Students, faculty, and staff enjoyed our PBIS Kickoff at CJHS on Friday. Teachers participated in a relay called Catch the Bus, and the students played a fun game of Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Cup. Our goal for the next four weeks is keeping those grades up, up, up to start the year off great!

CJHS Yarn Club completed their service project this week. They knitted flowers for Mother's Day and gave them to residents at local nursing homes. Beautiful work!

Carterville Junior High was represented well yesterday at the SIJHSAA State Golf Tournament.
For the boys, Dylan Barrington placed 18th with a score of 87, and Will Burzynski placed 7th with a score of 82.
For the girls, Baillie Sims placed 11th with a score of 100, and Merryn Elliot placed 2nd only two shots behind the leader with a score of 87.

Congratulations to our track state qualifiers! The state track meet is Saturday, May 11 at the CHS track.

On Saturday, members of the CJHS band and choir traveled to Mt. Vernon to participate in the IGSMA State Solo & Ensemble Contest. 32 students performed in 32 different music events, earning 1 Good, 5 Excellent, and 63 Superior medals. All performed events qualified for the state level based on their results from the district contest hosted by Carterville Junior High School in February. Pictured are the CJHS Lab Choir and an instrumental ensemble made up of most of this year's 8th grade band members. Many students in both of these groups participated in several events.

Here are some of the recent art projects our CJHS students have done in Mr. Moore's classes. These talented students are another reason we are proud to be Carterville Lions!

A big congratulations to some of our CJHS student athletes! At Monday's track meet, the boys 4x200 relay team broke the school record that was set 23 years ago, with a time of 1:41.50. Way to go Max Lustenberger, Harper Lustenberger, Gavin Johnson and Jack Dodson!
